Students practice using the periodic table to determine the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons in the first 18 elements during this relay type game. Cards should be printed double sided and have a fun leaf image from http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Math-In-The-Middle. The clue on the back leads students to identify the correct element using their periodic tables. Cards vary in difficulty but all require an understanding of the organization of information on the periodic table. This document includes set of 18 double sided cards, student answer sheet, teacher answer key, and directions for playing.
I used a fall theme to create this set of cards as I usually teach this topic in the fall. Please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in a set of these cards with different images on the front and I will try to customize for you.
