While studying the Periodic Table, have your students examine one element in-depth. In this project, you set the foundation for your students to discover the hidden secrets of elements. Through a series of investigative questions, your students will conduct research and become experts on their chosen element. Have them turn this assignment in as an element report, or have them use this as a template to gather background information needed to create a focused class presentation to share what they learned.
Tip: I use this worksheet as a guided reading exercise with elemental reading selections from John Emsley book "Nature's Building Blocks- an A-Z Guide to the Elements".
Topics of investigation include:
-Food based elements
-History of element
-Discovery of element
-Structure of element- Lewis Dot and Oribital
