ELEMENT OF ART: COLOR
This lesson will help students develop an understanding of color in art, learn the vocabulary surrounding color schemes, and create artwork that successfully uses color.
—An introduction to the element of color.
—Vocabulary words and definitions.
—Images and examples.
—A graphic organizer to help students prepare for the creation of an art project of the teacher’s choosing.
Combine this lesson with “The Civil Rights Movement” and “Artist and Activist Ai Weiwei” to create an art unit that covers the four art processes: Creating, Presenting, Responding, and Connecting.
I use this lesson with my photography students, but it can also lead into a drawing, painting, or design project based on color.
*This item is also available in the "Elements of Art: Descriptions, Vocabulary, and Project Proposals" Bundle which includes lessons on all 7 elements for a discounted price.
