A European themed cave painting elementary art lesson for kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade.
I love incorporating art history in my art lessons. After a trip to Europe I was inspired to create a European based unit in my classes K-5th. This lesson was specifically designed for 1st grade, although it could be taught to kindergarten, 2nd, or 3rd.
For first grade I decided to introduce them to one of the oldest forms of art, the Lascaux Caves. Through this lesson they learn about France, prehistoric times, and making art without using standard art materials. This lesson can last one, two, or three classes.
This lesson pack includes the big idea, essential questions, goals, objectives, national standards, vocabulary, supply list, step by step instructions to implement the assignment, grading checklist, project examples, extension ideas, and two PowerPoints.
