This simple lesson plan was created as an introduction to the artists Frank Stella for elementary students. When meeting Stella, they are also introduced to abstract art and collage.
Students take what they learn and create a collaged piece of art to share things they like with their classmates. The goal is to create an abstract piece of art that by nature is not realistic, but that has enough detail as to allow classmates to figure out what activity the student was expressing. The goal is effective communication using abstract art. Not an easy task but great for critical thinking.
Marzano's Learning Goal and Scale have been included. This activity is similar to the 2nd grade lesson in my store, but was designed for 3rd grade as it has more information.
My teaching schedule allows me to see each class once a week. The teaching duration reflects this schedule. Thanks for stopping by my store. Please let me know if you have any questions.
