Introduce your elementary art students to the art of scratchboard
Everything you need to get started is included in this bundle. You will receive two professionally formatted, user-friendly lesson plans. These lesson plans follow the Madeline Hunter/Elements of Effective Instruction Model. Each lesson plan includes relevant national visual art standards (as well as Pennsylvania standards), objectives, resources, supply list, anticipatory set, and lesson procedures (input, guided instruction, independent practice and closure). Interdisciplinary connections and differentiations are also noted where applicable.
This is a wonderful lesson for handling several of the art elements and principles such as line, shape, texture, contrast and balance. This lesson would be a great follow up to their homeroom’s insect theme for a science unit. It could also be used with a Valentine “Love Bug” theme in the regular classroom.
In addition to the lesson plans, you will receive an optional symmetry worksheet that allows students to practice the art of counterchange with positive and negative space and four clip art royalty-free images to photocopy for your students’ use. The student examples at the end were created by my 7-year-old daughter. This lesson has been successfully classroom tested in grades 3 & 4.
Please do not hesitate to contact me before or after the sale with any questions. I’d love to see your results and hear feedback on what you liked or changed about the plans.
