Character education with a hint of art...Elementary Etiquette! This unit about respect and manners was designed to use in my 3rd and 4th grade gifted education classroom, but can easily be adapted for any 1st - 4th grade classroom. In this hands-on unit, students will learn everyday respect for others, how to set a table, table manners, and participate in two art extension activities. One of these activities would be a great service project to use in your community! Students will learn the how and why of writing thank you notes as well as basic cell phone manners and internet etiquette. Introductions and first impressions will be simple as students learn to introduce others through role play in an Introduction Production. This unit can be taught in mini-lessons in a week or can be broken down to teach a lesson whenever your schedule allows. Help your students evolve into the young adults they will become with ease as they learn to navigate their surroundings with respect for themselves and others through etiquette.
