This is an excellent assessment for your students to complete after a unit about maps. It thoroughly covers the vocabulary and terminology that is included in an early to mid elementary level unit. There are four sections of the quiz.
The first portion includes labeling the parts of a map (author, date, title, scale, compass rose, and key). The second section specifically deals with differentiating cardinal and intermediate directions. The third aspect of the quiz includes vocabulary matching. The final part is a free response question: Why are maps important?
