Looking for an Orff arrangement that reinforces eighth notes, quarter notes and quarter rest along with "so mi or sol mi do"? Would you like this music lesson plan with interactive visuals to be a digital resource that will work on all interactive boards, tablets and web browsers? Your elementary music students will LOVE the engaging activities and the interactive slides included in the lesson plan, the PowerPoint or Web version of the visuals. An excellent spiraling activity to add to your Orff lessons and Kodaly lessons.
The product is included in a bundle. Click on the bundle link for additional details. Consider purchasing the bundle to save money!
All elementary music teachers teach the folk song "Pease Porridge Hot" to reinforce sol mi or sol mi do (depending on how you sing the ending) along with quarter notes, quarter rests and eighth notes. However, let’s extend the song and the activities to make it truly musical and memorable for your students. The traditional song has been extended to include a B section.
The B section was written to reinforce eighth notes and ostinatos (on boomwhackers) with first and second grade. However, I adapted the B section so that I could spiral the curriculum and reinforce sixteenth notes with third and fourth grade. You will receive 2 sets of lesson plan and 2 sets of interactive visuals. Please note there are several slides that are repeated in each lesson and you are not charged for the duplicate slides.
The set of Lesson Plans and interactive slides include:
• 5-7 lessons each 8-20 minutes (18 pdf pages) plus an original Orff arrangement. The lesson plans include detailed instructions for teaching the song, mixer dance, instrumental interlude, rhythmic and melodic activities, plus the Orff ensemble to first - fourth grade. Additional adaptions and extensions are also addressed.
• 37 slides (with 28 slides being student interactive) may be used to reinforce reading rhythmic and melodic patterns, notating the song on the staff and aurally identifying melodic patterns. You will have everything you need to teach all the lessons whether you sing the song with so/mi or so/mi/do at the end.
It is a perfect piece to add to a performance/concert or just to sing and dance in music class addressing curricular concepts as appropriate. You do not need to utilize the Orff arrangement in order to address curricular concepts while your class enjoys making music with this product.
