This bundle will help you facilitate an effective, student-driven discussion about what it means to be a good athlete. Use the included poster template to display the class's amazing ideas in the room. Perfect for any classroom teachers or P.E. instructors, whose students need support with issues on the playground.
When it comes to play time, students are generally expected to follow rules and expectations that adults have imposed on them. These rules and expectations can seem arbitrary when they are always coming from the adults. Why not let student's own ideas and opinions reinforce healthy playground behavior?
Students will generate some ideas independently on a small response worksheet, and then share out with the whole group. Afterwards, you can use the included template to create a poster that shows off and reminds the students of their amazing perspectives on athleticism. This will be their own custom ideal, or code of conduct, that you can look back to for the rest of the year. It will come entirely from them, and you will be amazed by the ideas and perspectives they share!
Included in this download:
-A detailed lesson plan in both .doc and .pdf format.
-A quick and easy independent response worksheet to get ideas flowing. (Prints on 8.5x11" paper)
-A poster template, so that you can easily create an artistic poster based on your students' ideas to be shown in the classroom.
(Open the Preview to see the poster that my class generated through this lesson!)
