    Description

Integrate STEM in your classroom all year!

Engage your students in a fun and unique way! STEM Projects are perfect for helping students learn to work cooperatively in small groups and growing on their own.

Each STEM challenge begins with a letter written to students explaining a problem they must solve using a specific set of simple materials you have in your classroom. Students plan, design, and execute their own ideas. After they have completed their activity, there is time for reflection on what worked and what didn't.

The Entire year of STEM Challenges is excellent tool for a STEM Club or a weekly STEM activity in your classroom! These engaging Elementary STEM challenges align with the NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards).

    Each Challenge Includes:

    • Teacher and Student Instructions (With Photos)
    • Student Planning Pages
    • STEM Journal
    • Reflection Pages
    • NGSS Standards
    • TpT Digital Version for Distance Learning with Google Classroom

What teachers are saying about this resource!

"This is such a wonderful resource! My co-teacher and I implemented a STEM time into our second grade classrooms this year, and this was perfect! Great challenges for groups of students to complete! Since these are seasonal, I often used many of them on party days, or early out days before breaks. Thank you so much!"

"WOW! These are such cute ideas. My students enjoy doing STEM activities but love them even more when they are holiday themed. I cannot wait to get these printed off and let the students work with them. Thank you so much for sharing!"

"I am so very excited to use these STEM activities with my High Ability firsties! The first few activities we've tried have been absolutely phenomenal!"

"Very helpful for me so I can start doing regular STEM projects in my class."

    NGSS2-LS2-2
Develop a simple model that mimics the function of an animal in dispersing seeds or pollinating plants.
    NGSS4-ESS2-1
Make observations and/or measurements to provide evidence of the effects of weathering or the rate of erosion by water, ice, wind, or vegetation. Examples of variables to test could include angle of slope in the downhill movement of water, amount of vegetation, speed of wind, relative rate of deposition, cycles of freezing and thawing of water, cycles of heating and cooling, and volume of water flow. Assessment is limited to a single form of weathering or erosion.
    NGSS3-5-ETS1-2
Generate and compare multiple possible solutions to a problem based on how well each is likely to meet the criteria and constraints of the problem.
    NGSS3-5-ETS1-1
Define a simple design problem reflecting a need or a want that includes specified criteria for success and constraints on materials, time, or cost.
    NGSS3-PS2-2
Make observations and/or measurements of an object’s motion to provide evidence that a pattern can be used to predict future motion. Examples of motion with a predictable pattern could include a child swinging in a swing, a ball rolling back and forth in a bowl, and two children on a see-saw. Assessment does not include technical terms such as period and frequency.
