Elementary Science Discussion Cards: Growing Bundle
Discussion cards ask open-ended questions that are written to help develop critical thinking skills and deepen understanding of upper-elementary science concepts. Use these task cards to facilitate a collaborative learning environment where students support the learning of their peers. Each discussion card asks students to evaluate an image and then explain what is happening using science vocabulary related to the concept.
This is a growing bundle. As new sets are added, the price of the bundle will increase. There are currently plans to have a total of 12 sets (one set for each of the 11 readiness standards in the 5th grade TEKS, plus a set for separating mixtures and solutions). We use 5th grade science TEKS to develop our questions; however, you may find that the concepts covered are requirements of any curriculum. Preview the concepts and vocabulary covered in each set by clicking on the links below.
Included with the discussion cards are 3 different ideas for using these cards to supplement your science curriculum. All of the ideas use collaboration between students and student movement around the classroom.
