Introduce your elementary art students to the art of papel picado.
Everything you need to get started is included in this bundle. You will receive a professionally formatted, user-friendly lesson plan which follows the Madeline Hunter/Elements of Effective Instruction Model. The plan is broken down into relevant visual art standards, objectives, resources, supply list, anticipatory set, and lesson procedures (input, guided instruction, independent practice and closure). Interdisciplinary connections and differentiations are also noted where applicable.
This is a wonderful lesson for handling several of the art elements and principles such as line, shape, pattern, repetition and balance. This lesson would be a great seasonal activity for Dio de los Muertos or in the spring for Cinco de Mayo.
In addition to the lesson plans, you will receive an introductory practice worksheet, a recommended book list with ISBNs and two artistic photographs featuring authentic papel picado for use in your own worksheets, powerpoint or classroom display. There are full color photos of student examples for your review or to share with students.
This is a fun, upbeat lesson that students of all ages and abilities enjoy. It has been classroom tested and refined over the past decade. I have personally used this lesson with students in grades 3-8.
Please do not hesitate to contact me before or after the sale with any questions. I’d love to see your results and hear feedback on what you liked or changed about the plans.
