Includes an 8 page Elements of Art Burrito Book printable AND video on how to assemble. The Burrito booklet focuses on the six elements of art: line, color, space, shape, texture, and form/value. Each page has an assortment of activities for students to practice and demonstrate their understanding of the elements. The last page (back cover) of the burrito book is a writing about the elements of art section as a capstone for finishing the book.
What is a burrito book?
The idea got it's name from the way you roll the second page up to insert it into the cover page. The video demonstrates how to do this correctly and there are many online resources showing you how to assemble the burrito book.
What does the burrito book include?
Each page would make a great addition to a project focusing on the elements of art. Print out the burrito book template as many times as you want for all of your students! Detail of what each page contains below:
Page 1- Cover page, what are the elements of art, name/hour
Page 2- Color, definition, mixing colors, color wheel
Page 3- Line, emotion, movement, contour lines
Page 4- Shape, geometric, organic
Page 5- Form, Value, value scale, 3-dimensional
Page 6- Space, overlapping, shading, perspective, size/scale, positive and negative space
Page 7- Texture, actual texture, simulated texture, animal textures
Page 8- Writing about the elements of art
What does the video include?
The video is a 5-minute .mp4 video file that plays on most macs and PCs. The video includes a short introduction and how to cut and assemble the burrito book. The video can be used by the teacher or be shown to the entire class. Due to file size restrictions at TPT, audio/video quality is not HD but is perfectly capable of instructing.
Goal when using this Burrito Book:
-Students will understand how to create and identify the elements of art
-Students will learn how the elements of art affect artwork
-Students will know how to write about a work of art based on the elements of art
