Teach your students to...
-Describe the textures in an artwork
-Increase their arts vocabulary
-Identify different textures in the world around them
-Frottage to create texture
...with this visual poster and art activity!
Use the poster to teach the types of textures, then let students apply what they have learned with a TEXTURE HUNT. Students need to search the classroom or outdoors for different textures and then frottage (crayon or pencil rubbing) them to create a texture using crayons. This will help students to describe, identify and apply their knowledge of textures.
The activity is most suitable for Pre-Primary to Year 3 students, but the poster can be appropriate for all students as a vocabulary reference when writing their Arts responses.
