This 180 minute lesson for junior high and high school allows students to explore the elements of design framed around logo design. In this lesson, students will define and demonstrate each of the eight elements of design. They will examine multiple examples and create their own examples of each element. There are 4 mini assignments throughout the lesson allowing them to explore elements more in depth. Finally, they will create a one or two-point perspective drawing of their name.

This lesson is classroom tested and I have used it for years with high school design students at the start of the semester as a review of the elements of design and to practice perspective drawing. It would work in any type of design or art class.
Everything you need for this lesson is included here and ready to go… all you need to do is photocopy the materials and make sure students have access to some of the digital files.
Zipped file includes complete teacher's guide and lesson plan, instructor file (both Smart Notebook and PowerPoint), student notes and assignment booklet, digital student files (both Smart Notebook and PowerPoint), perspective name drawing assignment including marking rubric, bell work review quiz, and a sponge activity (identifying logos).
