This lesson demonstrates the multiple varieties of line available for the artist. It further demonstrates that line can be expressive. There is a worksheet attached for the student to explore and record a collection of lines.
Then the student is encouraged to create a composition using nothing but line, where no two lines cross over or create shape. No shapes are allowed in this lesson.
The student is further encouraged to consider some principles of design, specifically movement, harmony, rhythm, proportion, and then throw in some variety for emphasis.
