This is a highly engaging activity centered on literary terms.
Students cut (or use pre-cut) pieces of a puzzle. They match terms to descriptions of each term; for example: "internal conflict" will be matched with "a struggle within a character." The pieces will ultimately all fit together.
This activity can be used as a preassessment, a post-lesson follow-up activity, a general review, or a worthwhile filler activity. It’s also easy to have students use individually or in pairs or groups.
The time it will take students to complete this puzzle will depend on their familiarity with the subject. If being used as a preassessment, it’s likely to take longer than it would as a follow-up activity.
