At Teaching for Change, I truly believe that students work better together, so most of my lesson plans revolve around students as leaders and teachers as facilitators. This elements of a short story peer teaching project is a prime example of students acting as teacher and the teacher acting as facilitator. Students take control of their learning by reviewing a previously taught concept, developing teaching materials (iMovie, PowerPoint, Posterboard, etc.), and an interactive activity (a game, a visualization activity, etc). Provided materials include the overview, rubric, timeline, lesson planning sheet to give to students, task sheets with directions for each element (group), QR code creation directions to help students create a technology-based word wall, and a group and self-assessment. All of my students always say that my peer teaching activities are their favorite because they are able to take control of their learning.
