In this project students will adopt an element from the Periodic Table of the Elements. As a proud parent of their element, they will create a baby book to remember each stage of the element’s life.
I assign this project at the beginning of the Periodic Table of the Elements chapter. Prior to this, students receive their own Periodic Table and color code it to represent metals, nonmetals and metalloids. The project is an at home project that is due at the conclusion of the chapter though in class work time can be given to conduct research if time permits
Students have two weeks to complete the project. I tell students to think outside the box. This project should not cost any money to complete. They can be creative with materials they find around the house. I have done this project for the last five years and the quality of work has always been amazing!!
This project includes the following concepts:
• Using the Periodic Table of the Elements
• Properties of Metals, Nonmetals and Metalloids
• Parts of the Atom
• Bohr Model
• Acrostic Poem
• Element Family
