This unit of work was designed for a grade three level student while focusing on learning needs rather than curriculum needs. For some areas this student was at level or just below and in some areas much further below.
The curriculum areas covered are:
• Procedure text
• Historical information
• Human achievements and development over time.
• Information about modern society
• Counting to 20
• Doing basic add and subtract to 20
Design and Technology
• Basic tool use
Each lesson is designed to be about 30 – 50 minutes long. Depending on student ability will depend on the speed they will complete the lesson. There is a minimum of 25 lessons in this unit, but also suggestions if more lessons are desired.
It is highly recommended that the Design and Technology lessons be done in order, starting from Colors in the Designing section, through to the Making section and finally Critiquing section. English and Maths can be mixed up a bit, but not for Design and Technology.
This unit of work could also be used with a grade four or five class. However, the comprehension questions may need to be revised.
Feedback is always appreciated. This unit of work was a request, but alteration should not be hard to make to suit your own students and class needs. I am also an Australian teacher. As much as I have tried to make sure the grammar and spelling are in line with America. However, if there is an error just let me know through feedback.
