Elves are cute and playful, and your children will love making the elf glyph included in this product! They'll tell the story of their favorite holiday activities -- all through symbols! The finished product is one that will get ooohs and ahhhs from everyone who sees them -- ESPECIALLY if you display them according to the tips that I have included.
There are two sets of glyph patterns; one set is for copying on colored paper; the other is for copying on cardstock and using as tracers. I use brights copy paper for these and they turn out beautifully!
These elf glyphs aren't just another pretty face. Behind all that cuteness are data analysis activities, which include two ready-made graphs and one blank one for students to create their own two-category graph. Use the Interview a Friend page for students to get some hands-on, in-depth problem solving practice.
Making an elf glyph isn't complete unless children have an opportunity to imagine themselves as an elf. I have included two versions of graphic organizers and writing templates. One version has larger lines for small hands to write more easily. The other has lines that are appropriate for second or third graders.
While you're having small groups, use the Elf Workshop Task Cards as an independent activity. There is an answer key and two versions of response pages. I've also included tips for using the task cards.
Finally, but maybe the most fun, I have created three Sock-it-to-Me Elf practice pages -- three with addition and subtraction review, one with synonym review, and the last with antonym review. These are fun, rigorous academic activity pages.
