This journal will put all the excitement about the class elf to good use. The students draw a picture of where the elf is each day. Next, they circle the prepositional word or phrase that best tells where the elf is. Lastly, they will write a sentence using that preposition to describe where the elf is (and perhaps what he's doing). This includes an introductory page (one made with a boy elf pic and one with a girl elf). On this page, the students will circle the elf's gender and eye color, write in the elf's name (also done on the cover), and write the ELF rule "Don't touch the elf!"
I've made pages to track the elf's whereabouts for up to 15 days.
My plan is to do this whole group with my kindergarten class for the first week in place of journals. Then, for the second and third weeks, it will become their independent-(ish) morning work.
