If your class is doing the popular "Elf on a [Classroom] Shelf"
activities, as a super-fun classroom management
activity for December, then I think you'll enjoy "Elf Help!" A Countdown to Christmas.
Doing countdown activities, helps little ones wrap their heads around the concept of time, which is a pretty abstract concept for most.
They're also a quick, easy and fun way to practice numbers, as well as counting backwards
, which is one of my standards.
Have your students color the elf's "stockings" in an ABAB pattern
to reinforce patterning.
I've included a traceable calendar
of December, for years 2015-2017, with a blank one
if you want students to fill in their own.
I'll be deleting the old year, and adding more, as years progress, provided I'm still alive and kicking :-)
Tracing and writing the numbers as they countdown to Christmas, is also a fun way to practice numbers, as well as have a visual of "time passing".
This countdown activity, would be a nice addition to my Countdown to Christmas Folder packet
, as well as the Countdown to Christmas Alphabetically ABC booklet
I'm Diane from Teach With Me, wishing you a December that's filled with lots of magical moments.
