As a culminating activity to a Christmas themed writing or just as a fun project to do around the holiday, engage your students in making this cute elf! Your class will enjoy assembling Santa's little helper. It is a project that is sure to "deck your halls" and bring a little Christmas to your classroom. This activity can be placed in an art center for your students to do independently, or you can choose to do it whole group. I have done it both ways and implemented it successfully. All you need is some construction paper, cotton balls, jingle bells, crayons, a little glue and scissors. I like to use this project as a follow-up to a writing activity. It is a great motivator for the students to get their story written so they can create their elf. The elf itself is an adorable way to creatively display your students' writing! This download by Kris' Common Core Crutches features step by step directions with accompanying photos to go with them and the pattern pieces. "Oh what fun it is to make an elf for your classroom! HEY!"
