Do you need an elf for your classroom shelf? It's a super-fun behavior management tool.

Even if your kiddos don't believe in Santa, an elf provides loads of writing prompt ideas, and the activities you can do to add a bit of "elf fun" to December, are endless.

You can also use him to practice spatial directions ("Where's the elf?" on, in, over, under, beside, between...)

This stuffed lunch bag is simple and quick for you to make and sits nicely anywhere you want to place him.

If you have the time, I'm sure your students would also enjoy making one of their own.

Crumpling paper for stuffing, snipping, and accordion-folding paper arms & legs, provides great fine motor practice that strengthens finger and hand muscles.

I bought the heavy-duty, Christmas-print bags, from Hobby Lobby. Simply stuff with newspaper. Kiddos will enjoy naming their elf.

You can send them home, or if you have room, use them as a personal behavior management tool.

I've included "Tally Time" tummy labels for that.

For whatever behavior you deem appropriate, students get to add tally marks to their bag. After X number of tally marks, students receive a little something. It can be different each day or week.

You can also do this on your classroom one, as a team effort.

I'm Diane, from Teach With Me, hoping your December is filled with lots of memory-making, magical moments!
