This is a fun activity involving student cooperative learning and identification. Students pair in groups of two. A packet with 12 Ellipse equations in general form given to each group. The students work together matching the general form of the ellipse to its standard form, filling out the worksheet as they go. They are also asked to find the center of the ellipses, the graph of the ellipse asnd axes information. (An additional worksheet is included asking the students for the a, b, and c values as well as the foci and vertices of each ellipse.)
When the students have finished the matching process, they turn in the worksheet and return the problems to a plastic baggie.
This activity is similar to all MatchingMania activities on this website, but is not found in any book, YET!!
