How to use the printable:
Individual research activity: give each student an activity prompt card and a medical symbol to research. Ask each student to research the medical symbol on the card, using a computer or books from the library. Ask each student to use the graphic organizer to collect their findings. Ask each student to fill out an exit ticket, at the end of the class period. Homework: reflection prompt.
Small group activity: heterogeneous grouping ( max. 4 students). Give each group 4 activity prompt cards and 4 medical symbols to research. Ask students to research the symbols and to fill out the graphic organizer. The reflection prompt is used for a whole class discussion.
Teacher input ( lecture): graphic organizer ( ask students to use it to take notes during the lecture and to review and edit notes after the lecture).
