A fun, creative way to bring a unit on immigration and Ellis Island to life! Students are either immigration officials or immigrants coming to Ellis Island! Students are given new names and nationalities and go through medical examinations and questions. Immigrants use a dice to answer questions which will determine if they gain admission cards to America! Also includes a pre-reading activity for background knowledge and vocabulary development, as well as a follow up activity.
Includes: role play procedures and directions, name tags, table signs, immigration forms, dice
Option to print activities in full color or black and white! Print on card stock and laminate to play over and over!
Play multiple times so students can experience being an immigrant and an immigration officer!
