The Ellis Island Webquest is a webquest I created using Scholastic's website. The students read information about immigrants' experiences, listen to immigrants' stories, and follow the steps an immigrant went through upon arriving on Ellis Island. The students fill out a webquest guide to reflect on their understanding as they go through the steps of the immigration process.
While some of the questions are literal questions, others require the students to analyze the information and think about the perspective's of the immigrants.
This Internet webquest is an engaging tool to help students not only learn the facts about the history of immigration on Ellis Island, but to also think about the perspectives of the people involved. This is always an activity my students enjoy!
As of October 2012, Scholastic changed their website; however, I have updated the scavenger hunt, so it now correlates with the new site!
