This is a powerpoint slide lecture which covers the following information: reasons why immigrants left Europe, the immigration medical and background checks at Ellis Island, and a brief description of immigrant tenement life. It includes a student skeleton outline which is to be filled in as teacher reviews information. After each slide of information several students will step into the slide and act out the scene. There are 28 provided roles for students to improvise. Some roles may be duplicated if you have larger classes. The powerpoint also includes an assignment to present at the end of the activity to summarize the day's learning.
