This product is intended to be used alongside the book to support learning.
Please note: The file is a zip file- two versions are included- one with US English spellings and one with UK English spellings.
A range of activities are included, great for Kindergarten and Grade 1 literacy lessons or Speech Pathology sessions!
This book companion contains the following pages:
Pg. 4 – All about Elmer – students fill in key details about the book.
Pg. 5 & 6 – Elmer Key Words – Cut out the pictures on page 5 & 6, match up the visual key word with the written definition.
Pg. 7 – My Elmer Dictionary – Use this page to record any words that the students don’t know, they can also write down a simple definition of each word.
Pg. 8 & 9 – Elmer Nouns, Verbs and Adjectives Sorting – cut out the words on page 9, then stick them into the right columns on pg. 8, based on whether they are a noun, verb or adjective.
Pg. 10 - Elmer Nouns, Verbs and Adjectives Sorting answer page.
Pgs. 11-13 – Sequencing Elmer – Students write a simple explanation of what has happened at the beginning, middle and end of the story. There is space for them to draw a picture too.
Pg. 14 & 15 – Sequencing Elmer – Cut out the pictures on pg. 15 and put these into the right order, stick them onto pg. 14.
Pg. 16 – Question Time! – Contains 5 comprehension questions about the story.

Pg. 26 & 27 – Design Your Own Elephant for Elmer’s Day – Students can design their own elephant for an Elmer’s Day party. Blank and patchwork elephant designs included.
Pg. 28 – Elmer Dot Art – A page that can be used as a generic reinforcer with any stimulus or activity. Students can colour in a dot every time they answer a question/say a word correctly etc.
