Teach your students how to embed text into their expository, persuasive, and argumentative essays correctly. Students learn how to embed by practicing embedding short quotes using a variety of methods.
Through this dynamic, no prep lesson, students learn to embed quotes by mentioning the author and by incorporating it in the beginning, middle, or end of a sentence. They also learn to how and when to use an ellipsis and brackets within quotes.
I have taught this lesson with grade 6s, 7s, and 8s and they all did well.
