Do you have a fire drill, tornado drill, or lock down drill coming up? Use this emergency drills instructional unit to help you teach all aspects of emergency drills. Made for students with special needs like Autism and Down Syndrome, the unit is designed to help students recognize, match, and understand the steps to emergency drills so they can follow them when the drill happens. These drills can be overwhelming to students with special needs, so having a familiar visual support can help them feel in control.

Here is what is included:

Emergency Drill Passages:

Each drill has a short passage explaining why we do the drill. The passage can be read multiple times to students for repetition when teaching the skill.

File Folder Games:

Students practice putting the steps of the drill in order through matching. Students practice the file folder games by matching the steps in order. This way they won't be surprised by the steps when it is time to do the drill.

Word Walls:

All three drills include a word wall. Students practice their reading skills through words that connect with real situations they experience at school.
