Recommended prerequisite:

Some understanding of natural selection and Darwin's work would be beneficial to comprehending the humor behind Darwin Awards

Product Description:

Students will research the definition of a "Darwin Award" and the criteria required to win one. Internet is required for this assignment.

Teacher Warning:

Although Darwin Awards are intended to be light hearted and funny, it will always be a bit sensitive to discuss the death of humans. If your students have free, unblocked access to the internet they may encounter some more questionable material. I use this assignment with my 7th graders, though, and have never had any issues.

I use this assignment as a good laugh on the last day before a break.

Editable version included.
