Love the book by Doreen Cronin? Then you’ll love our plan, “Click, Clack, Moo, Cows That Type”. This “In A Pinch” emergency sub plan is ready when you're not, making your emergency sub planning a breeze! This one full day first grade plan provides engaging activities in Integrated Language Arts and Mathematics that your students will enjoy, and a substitute will appreciate during your absence. Activities are simply inserted into your regular day schedule as defined in your general information folder for a substitute teacher. If time allows, some classroom teachers prefer to prepare (copy) and organize the materials the sub will be using. We recommend the sub replace and prepare all items used before the end of their duty day so the plan is ready for future use.
This “Click, Clack, Moo” sub plan contains 24 slides and includes a 7 page detailed lesson plan with easy to follow instructions for each activity. The activities are interactive and develop good listening skills. In the area of Integrated Language Arts the lesson begins with a read aloud of Doreen Cronin's book. Children are questioning, predicting, and building vocabulary as they listen to and make meaning of the story. Specific and engaging questions are provided. A writing extension will allow students to make a text-to-self connection using a “friendly letter” format. Students will make a story retell book before sharing with partners. In addition, children will love the “Click, Clack, Moo Word Find” puzzle, the “Alphabetical Order” skill sheet, the “Click, Clack, Moo Word Scramble”, and a “Blends & Chunks Word Play”.
In the area of Math the class will use the “Favorite Character Graph” to survey and record classmates favorite story character. A follow-up discussion will have students analyzing and comparing data. The “Story Problems” will encourage children to show their thinking using numbers, objects, words, and pictures. The “Roll and Tally Challenge” game will have partners record tally marks and counting by fives to 100. Finally, the partner “Dice Roll Addition” game will provide addition practice with sums to 12.
Throughout their day, your students are following the Core Standards and will not miss a beat with your absence!
