This is an emergent reader book, by Sara Ipatenco, that encourages children to recognize simple sight words such as “likes,” “the,” “is” and “for.” The 10-page book describes the things Penguin does during the day, such as listen to music, go skateboarding, play in the rain and read a book. It also uses repeated text and encourages children to use the pictures to figure out unknown words. It's a great way to practice phonics skills too. Simply cut the pages apart and staple them together. I’ve included a black and white version that students can color themselves and a color version that you can print, laminate and use as a classroom book! Enjoy!!
