This is an emergent reader book by Sara Ipatenco. It encourages children to recognize the simple sight words “the,” “a,” “likes” and “sees.” The 10-page book describes what Sock Monkey likes about each season, such as ice cream cones in summer and playing in the leaves in the fall. It also uses repeated text and encourages children to use the pictures to figure out unknown words. It's a great way to practice phonics skills too. Simply cut the pages apart and staple them together. I’ve included a black and white version that students can color themselves and a color version that you can print, laminate and use as a classroom book! Enjoy!!
