I Want to be an Astronaut!
An Illustrate me, please! I want to be a ... Book
Sight words: I want to be
We intentionally did not include illustrations on every page of this book. We want the students to illustrate their own books! After a student reads the text, we have them close their eyes and imagine what the illustration should look like to match the text.
This simple technique really helps the students gain ownership of the story, builds their comprehension skills and given them a sense of pride and accomplishment. It also enhances their retelling and rereading skills also.
The top book has a boy picture for you to give to your boys to read. The bottom book has a girl picture for you to give to your girls to read.
Print, stack, staple, cut in half and the books are ready to go for your little ones to read, illustrate and take home .
We use these in small groups, guided reading groups and sometimes we just send them home for family homework.! Kids love learning about real things!
Love, Learn, have fun and doodle,
