I am a Polar Bear!
An Illustrate me, please! Non fiction book.
*we have include a page for weight in pounds and in kilograms
*We have include a page for height in feet and in meters.
We intentionally did not include illustrations on every page of this book. We want the students to illustrate their own books! After a student reads the text, we have them close their eyes and imagine what the illustration should look like to match the text.
This simple technique really helps the students gain ownership of the story, make text t o picture connections, builds their comprehension skills and given them a sense of pride and accomplishment. It also enhances their retelling and rereading skills also.
On the last page is a world map. We have our students color in only the continents that the animal lives on.
Just Print, stack, staple, cut in half and the books are ready to go for your little ones to read, illustrate and take home .
We use these in small groups, guided reading groups and sometimes we just send them home for family homework.! Kids love learning about real things!
Having our Guided Rreading time doing double duty with science has been a great use our our time.
Learn, have fun and doodle,
