After many years of teaching, I have found that using the same story in a variety of formats helps students learn to read faster. In this unit, I have included many activities using the same list of sight words to help students recognize the words.
The sights word are:
I, like, the, yellow, red, green, blue, orange.
The unit includes 4 ready-to-print stories, flash cards, ways to implement in a library or literacy center, and running records assessment.
The strategies used in this unit give students techniques necessary to decode the text, including the ability to recognize high-frequency words as sight words.
