This emergent reader, by Martha Krein, uses simple text to retell the familiar fairy tale of the, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, allowing young readers to read the story independently or with some guidance from an adult.
Students use several reading strategies such as sight words, picture and context clues, sounds, cvc words, and -ed endings to decode text. It’s a great way to practice these common core literacy objectives.
Sight words included are: the, three, these, are, like, have, they, in, this, is, she, came, to, were, not, went, up, away, how
Most of my middle of the year kindergarten readers could read this after they had listened to Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
The reader is available to download in color, but can be printed in black and white with great results.
