PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Here's a great way to practice articulation skills AND reading skills. These 9 mini-readers are designed to help emergent readers learn familiar text as well as practice correctly saying /L/ and /L/ blends at the sentence level.

Also included is a sheet of homework slips so you can easily send these mini-readers home for practice.

The reading level of the mini-readers is approximately C according to comparative books leveled by Fountas & Pinnell. Level C is comparable to kindergarten (end of year). This predictable and patterned mini-reader contains common sight words as well as words with /L/.

Each of the 9 mini-readers contains a similar story which asks the main character (whose name targets the sound of the story) the following questions:
What do you see?
What do you hear?
What do you smell?
What/How do you feel?
What do you taste?
The main character answers each question with an item containing the targeted sound of the story. For example, in the story targeting /FL/, the main character, Flo, is asked "Flo, Flo what do you taste?" and she replies, "I taste orange juice from Florida." In the story targeting /L/ in the middle of words, Kayla is asked the same question, but her answer is "I taste jellybeans."

There is one book for each of the following sounds:
initial /L/, medial /L/, final /L/, /BL/, /PL/, /CL/, /GL/, /PL/, /SL/.

Classroom teachers & reading specialists: These readers are a great way to introduce your students to /L/ and /L/ blends in text. Great to use with Fundations lessons.
