School Supplies This reader focuses on the sight word "the", beginning sounds, main idea/details, and school supply vocabulary. For the response activity, students will draw four details to match the main idea. They will look at pictures, identify the school supplies, and cut and paste them into a school scene. They will also identify pictures of school supplies and write the letter that matches its beginning sound.

A Classroom This reader focuses on the sight word "a", beginning sounds, main idea/details, and classroom vocabulary. For the response activity, students will draw four details to match the main idea. They will look at pictures, identify which can be found in a classroom, and cut and paste them into a classroom scene. They will also identify classroom pictures and write the letter that matches its beginning sound.

I Like School This reader focuses on the sight words "I" and “like”, writing an opinion, writing a sentence, and school vocabulary. For the response activity, students will draw a picture of something they like at school, trace the sentence starter, and complete the sentence with assistance. They will also read partial sentences from the text, write the missing sight word, trace the rest of the sentence, and read the sentences to a partner.

Counting at Lunch This reader focuses on number words 1-5, beginning sounds, main idea/details, and lunch vocabulary. For the response activity, students will draw four details to match the main idea. They will count groups of pictures and cut and glue number words to match. They will also identify pictures of lunch foods and write the letter that matches its beginning sound.

Crayon Colors This reader focuses on the sight words I, see, a, color words, and writing an opinion. The text features dotted color words, which students can trace in the matching color. For the response activity, students will draw a picture of something that is their favorite color, trace the sentence starter, and complete the sentence with assistance. Students will also trace color words and color crayons to match.

I Can Draw This reader focuses on the sight words I, can, a, beginning sounds, writing a sentence, and animal vocabulary. For the response activity, students will think of something they can draw, draw it on an easel, trace the sentence starter, and complete the sentence with assistance. They will also identify pictures of animals and write the letter that matches its beginning sound.

At School This reader focuses on the sight words I, can, writing a sentence, main idea/details, and school vocabulary. For the response activity, students will draw four details to match the main idea. They will also think of something they can do at school, draw a picture, trace a sentence starter, and complete the sentence with assistance.

My Teachers This reader focuses on the sight word "my", sorting, main idea/details, and school subject vocabulary. For the response activity, students will draw four details to match the main idea. They will look at pictures of different teachers and cut and paste them into the correct classroom scene.

Recess This reader focuses on the sight words I, can, main idea/details, writing a sentence, and recess vocabulary. For the response activity, students will draw four details to match the main idea. They will also think of something they can do at recess, draw a picture, trace a sentence starter, and complete the sentence with assistance.

Snack Time This reader focuses on the sight words "I" and “like”, writing an opinion, main idea and details, beginning sounds, and snack vocabulary. For the response activity, students will draw a picture of something they like to eat at snack, trace the sentence starter, and complete the sentence with assistance. Fall Colors This reader focuses on color words and the sight word "the". For the response activity, students will draw a picture and complete a sentence with their favorite fall color.

Fall Leaves This reader focuses on color words and the sight words "I" and "see". For the response activity, students will complete a graphic organizer with color details from the book to support the main idea.

Falling Leaves This reader focuses on color words and the sight word "down". For the response activity, students will complete a graphic organizer with color details from the book to support the main idea.

Carving a Pumpkin This reader focuses on sequence and the sight words "I", "can", "a", and "the". For the response activity, students will cut and glue the pumpkin carving steps in the correct sequence.

From Seed to Pumpkin This reader focuses on sequence and the sight words "here", "is", "the", "little", and "big". For the response activity, students will cut and glue the pumpkin life cycle in the correct sequence.

Pumpkins This reader focuses on the sight words "this" and "is". For the response activity, students will think back to the story, draw their favorite pumpkin, and complete a sentence with the word that describes it.

In the Fall This reader focuses on signs of fall in nature and the sight words "in" and "the". For the response activity, students will think back to the story and complete a graphic organizer with four signs of fall.

Counting Leaves This reader focuses on counting to 10, number words to 10, and the sight words "I" and "see". For the response activity, students will draw a picture and complete a sentence telling a fall leaf activity.

Ten Little Pumpkins This reader focuses on counting to 10, number words to 10, and the sight words "little", "are", "in", and "the". For the response activity, students will draw a picture and complete a sentence telling what they would do with a pumpkin.

Five Acorns This reader focuses on the sight words "I", "see", "look", "one", "on", "in", and "the". For the response activity, students will draw a picture and complete a sentence telling what the squirrel will do with the acorns. In addition, they will sequence the order that the squirrel found the acorns.

”Where are the Snow Bears?” A Positional Words Emergent Reader and Response Activities Reinforce sight words, positional words, and writing a response with this fun and engaging emergent reader! My 12 page "Where are the Snow Bears?" mini book practices the sight words this, little, is, can, go, the and positional words on, in, under, in front of, behind, next to, above, below, beside, between, and over. The story features predictable text and shows the position of snow bears in different winter settings. I have included two levels of writing practice. For beginning writers, a traceable sentence starter is included. Students will draw a picture of a snow bear in any setting and use positional words to write a sentence to match. More advanced writers will write a complete sentence to match their picture. I have also included a two matching activities, where students will cut and paste positional words to match pictures. Full color positional words puzzle cards complete this set. There is one puzzle card for each word. It shows the word and two picture representations. These can be left whole and used as mini posters or cut and laminated for a center activity.

Given a scene of Antarctica, students will cut and glue only animals that live there, into the picture. Also included are fluency sentences, where students will read each and glue the animal that matches.

Snowman’s Trip: Part 1 Reinforce sight words, reading quotations, fluency, drawing and writing beginning, middle, and end, and sorting with this fun and engaging emergent reader! My "Snowman's Trip: Part 1" mini book practices the sight words I, will, my, said, go. The story features predictable text and follows snowman, as he prepares for vacation. In response, students will draw a picture showing what happened at the beginning, middle, and end, and write a sentence to match each picture. They will also recall what snowman packed. Given a suitcase, students will cut and glue only what he packed, into the picture. Also included are fluency sentences, where students will read each and glue the item he packed that matches. Students will also draw and write what they would pack for a beach vacation.

Arctic Animals: Parts 1 and 2 Reinforce sight words, practice identifying main idea and details, and writing facts with two fun and engaging emergent readers and corresponding activities! My "Arctic Animals: Part 1" mini book practices the sight words a, lives, in, the, here, it, has, is, can. It focuses on one animal per page, features simple text, and states 1-2 facts per animal. Animals in this book include a walrus, Arctic hare, polar bear, Arctic fox, narwhal, harp seal, husky, and puffin. "Arctic Animals: Part 2" practices the sight words a, lives, in, the, it, can, likes, to, eat, has, here, under, will, with, have. It focuses on one animal per page, features simple text, and states 1-2 facts per animal. Animals in this book include a moose, fur seal, Arctic wolf, Beluga whale, lemming, snow goose, snowy owl, and reindeer. I have included two levels of writing practice. Five response activities have also been included. Students will recall animals that live in the Arctic and cut and paste them into an Arctic scene. Students will read a series of fluency sentences and cut and paste the animal that matches the sentence into the box at the end. Given the main idea, students will draw and label four details from the text. Students will draw an animal from the text and write a sentence telling a fact about it. Students will draw and write to complete a flip book, with three Arctic animal facts.

The story features predictable text and asks questions about snowy day activities. In response, students will draw a picture of a snowy day activity and write a question asking a friend to join. Students will also edit questions by adding capitalization and punctuation.

He calls out to his animal friends, who take turns coming to buy a variety of numbers and colors of flowers. I have included three response activities. First, students will think back to the text and complete a graphic organizer by drawing the animals, in order, that came to the flower stand. Second, students will complete sentences with the verb that tells how each animal came to the stand. Last, students will follow a color by sight word code to color a flower stand.

"My Kite" Reinforce sight words, writing a summary, and problem/solution with this fun and engaging emergent reader! My "My Kite" mini book practices the sight words where, will, my, it, up, go, now, over, and. The story features semi predictable text and follows a little girl as she flies her kite over different things at the park. The story ends with a problem, that students will solve in one of the response activities. I have included three response activities. First, students will think back to the text and complete a problem/solution flip chart graphic organizer. Students will write and draw the problem from the story and then write and draw their own solution. Upon completion students can share their writing with the group. Second, students will write and draw the beginning, middle, and end of the story. Last, students will follow a color by sight word code to color the little girl and her kite.

"Signs of Spring" Reinforce sight words, sorting, writing a fact, and main idea and details with this fun and engaging emergent reader! Last, students will complete a “match flip book” main idea and details graphic organizer. Given the main idea, students will draw and write details from the text. Given the main idea, students will draw and write details from the text. Detailed directions are included with this easy to complete activity! Once complete, students will be eager to share their creations. You can also attach each to colored construction paper and use as part of a pond theme bulletin board or hallway display. Second, students will complete an "In the Pond" flip book. On the first page, students will draw a picture of a pond. On the second page, they will write one or more sentences to describe the picture. On the last page, they will color a picture of a pond. Then, they will cut and glue labels to match the plants and animals in the pond.

“Let’s Find Bugs”Reinforce sight words, fact and opinion, and verbs with this fun and engaging emergent reader! My "Let's Find Bugs" mini book practices the sight words look, where, see, this, little, down, has, here, will, is, and color words. The story features semi-predictable text and follows an outdoor search for bugs. I have included three response activities. First, students will complete draw three bugs from the text and write a fact from the text to match each picture. They will also choose a bug, draw a picture, and write their opinion about it. Second, students will complete a "Bug Facts" and "Bug Opinions" puzzle. Students will cut, sort, and glue puzzle pieces to complete each puzzle. Last, students will complete sentences with verbs to tell how each bug moves.

Springtime on the Farm Reinforce sight words, sorting, sequencing, and main idea and details with this fun and engaging emergent reader! My "Springtime on the Farm" mini book practices the sight words look, said, there, is, I, see, a, with, her, and, little, and some color words. It also features the names of adult and baby farm animals. The story features semi-predictable text and follows Jim and Meg as they visit a farm in the springtime. I have included three response activities. First, students will sort pictures according to whether they are baby or adult farm animals. Second, students will complete a “match flip book” main idea and details graphic organizer. Given the main idea, students will draw and write details from the text. Detailed directions are included with this easy to complete activity! Once complete, students will be eager to share their creations. Last, students will draw, in order, the animal pairs that Jim and Meg saw on the farm.

"Life Cycle of a Frog" Emergent Reader and Craftivity Introduce non-fiction text, reading for details and completing a diagram, while reinforcing sight words with this fun and engaging emergent reader and craftivity! My "Life Cycle of a Frog" mini book practices the sight words they, on, in, look, like, can, soon, are, but, little, and. It also features the vocabulary and facts about the life cycle of a frog. In response to this reader, I have included a frog flip book craftivity! Students will use the text to write and illustrate two facts about the life cycle of a frog. They will also use cut and paste pictures and labels to complete a diagram of the life cycle of a frog. I have included templates, pictures, and detailed instructions for completing the frog craftivity. This was a favorite activity with my students and created a cute hallway display!
