Use 20 emojis as different emotions and tones when reading. Use this as a comprehensible input strategy to get in extra reps of your targeted structures. Kids will be having so much fun that they won't notice the amount of repetitions they are hearing of the same sentences.
Includes 2 sets of 20 cards. One set of the emotion itself and another to be used for dialogue.
To use, you simply need a set of quotes, such as dialogue from a chapter of a class novel or a short story.
Have two bowls: 1 filled with quotes, 1 filled with emotion/tones. Students select one from each box and read that particular quote in the identified tone.
1. Whole class: 1 students selects a card and the whole class listens and guesses which emotion/tone it is.
2. Partners: For the more timid class, students read quotes to each other in various tones.
3. Teams: Divide the class into 2 teams. A person from each team selects a quote and a emoji card. Team gets 1 guess of which tone person is using. Point for correct answer.
