Hearing students have trouble becoming comfortable using NMS. This is a fun way to get them using their facial expressions and laughing at themselves and each other.
There are four cards of each emoticon. Each player receives 7 cards. The rest of the cards are the "pond". The player with the largest shoe size goes first. Player 1 gets the attention of another player in the game and uses only NMS to ask the other player for that card. If the other player has any cards with that NMS, they must give the card(s) to player 1.
If a player is asked for a card and s/he does not have one, they should sign HAVE NONE and the player who asked will draw the top card from the "pond".
A player's turn will continue until they are told HAVE NONE. Then the player to the right will go next.
Once a player collect 4 of the same NMS, they will lay that set down. The game ends when a player has gotten rid of all of their cards. The player with the most full sets wins.
Feel free to print as many decks as you need. I have found that play works best with 4-5 players, but you can print multiple decks but still keep the "4 cards = 1 set" rule - there will just be more than one player with the same set.
If I didn't explain it well, the game is played just like traditional Go Fish, except that it must be played "voices off" and players are only allowed to use their face to ask for the cards they want.
