Product Description
This product offers the opportunity to work on both emotions and figurative language! It is aligned with grade 3-5 applicable common core standards for part of curriculum related to figurative language but may also be appropriate for younger children needing acceleration or older students needing response to intervention. Intended users are speech pathologists, special education teachers, counselors, school psychologists, mental health therapists and classroom teachers.

The packet is divided into four emotion categories (happiness, sadness, anger & frustration and anxiety & fear. Each category contains 6 emotion idiom posters. Check out the preview page to see each idiom that is featured. You can use these posters for a bulletin board (they look great with a jewel-toned background) and/or as teaching tools in your classroom. They can be printed and laminated or you can choose to show them on your smart board or I pad.

You will also receive two tiers of 24 cards and directions for how to use them in memory, go fish and emotion charades games. One tier contains cards that have both a picture and the written idiom on them. The other tier contains one card with a picture and the other card with the written idiom for students that require more challenges! There is straight edge cutting required and I have grouped the cards closer together to make cutting more efficient.

Two worksheets are included that require the students to match the idiom in the sentence to the meaning.

Two other worksheets can be used with any idioms to dissect them and to extrapolate the emotion being communicated.

A progress monitoring tool is included for your convenience.
