Self-regulation is the ability to regulate feelings and actions in a socially appropriate manner. The ability to self-regulate is important for one’s self-esteem, mental health, academic progress and social relationships. Teaching students to take their emotion “temperature” is the first step toward helping them learn to keep their reactions under control.
