Use this domino game to help kids identify common negative feelings and learn strategies for dealing with them. Good for 2-6 players.
*Includes 108 dominoes that illustrate the following:
6 Negative Feelings---angry, confused, worried, embarrassed, sad, bored/tired (backgrounds of faces are color-coded to tie in with the Zones of Regulation)
6 Emotional Regulation Strategies---talk to an adult, take a walk, deep breathing, stretch, squeeze a stress ball, heavy work
*Also includes 12 blanks in case you’d like to make a few of your own, and instructions for three versions of play with increasing degrees of difficulty:
1) Put aside the dominoes that have strategy images on them (these are in black & white) and use the remaining 48 to play traditional dominoes by simply matching the faces
2) Play a traditional game using all the dominoes, (this is good for introducing the strategies and using the game to practice them)
3) Play a game in which players must place an appropriate strategy domino next to a feeling face (or vice versa) instead of simply matching the pictures on the dominoes. Use this version to discuss when to use each strategy and to encourage kids to verbally justify their choices. Use to teach them the difference between calming and energizing strategies.
