I designed 'Emotional Scale Charts' for parents, teachers, counselors or anyone working with tweens/teens. The emotions included in this resource are depression, anxiety & anger; three of the top emotions tweens/teens appear to struggle with the most.
The charts are designed on a number system from 0 to 10. In the resource you will find a picture scale to help you communicate with your tween/teen; using a visual aid such as this is more helpful than verbal communication because it eliminates the difficulty of trying to explain how one is feeling using while they are upset. This resource allows the tween/teen to simply point to a number on the scale.
If you have a tween/teen struggling with depression, anxiety and/or anger and they don't like talking about it when they are upset this resource will work great for you.
Follow the directions in the beginning of the resource to help you design a strategic individual intervention plan for your tween/teen based on their personality, circumstances and level of intensity of the emotion/emotions.
Design this strategy WITH your tween/teen while they are calm and relaxed in an effort to prepare for those moments they are saturated in their emotion. Therefore, when your tween/teen is struggling everyone will be on the same page and know what to do if they are pointing to a number 7 on the depression scale. I have included some examples to assist you in getting started.
The charts can be laminated for extended use or put in an easy to find place in the house or classroom. Use the black and white charts to save color ink, maybe your tween/teen would like to color it in themselves as different colors represent different emotions to each of us.
